I am proud to be and have been closely associated with two charities - Racing Welfare and the Bob Champion Cancer Trust.

If you want to donate (remember that it is tax efficient to do so) please feel free to use the Just Giving buttons below. Also keep in mind that 10 per cent of net proceeds generated from this site will be split between these two charities. I hope that you enjoy the videos below.

Thank you,

Racing Welfare........In my experience, a lot of people, including those that are closely involved with the sport, are not sure exactly what Racing Welfare does. Racing Welfare is racing's umbrella charity and the only organization to provide help and support for those that work or have worked in the racing industry. That support is nationwide through a network of welfare officers and an award-winning 24-hour helpline. The charity has offices in Malton, Middleham, Solihull, Lambourn, Epsom and of course Newmarket where the charity has its headquarters.

Racing Welfare provides financial aid to those that suffer injury, illness or disability and provides advice on handling debt or claiming state benefit in times of crisis. The property arm of the charity, Racing Homes, provides good quality affordable housing for racing's retired or for the younger people entering the industry. The portfolio consists of over 150 properties.

24 hours a day, seven days a week, it's the hard work put in by the stable staff that makes your day at the races, and if you agree with me that they deserve your support, then you might like to click on to www.RacingWelfare.co.uk to find out more or have a look at the video below about the charity.

The Bob Champion Cancer Trust.......I am sure that all of you know about the incredible story of Bob Champion who overcame testicular cancer to win the 1981 Grand National on Aldaniti. The legacy of one of racing's greatest stories is The Bob Champion Cancer Trust which has existed since 1983 to provide support for research projects into male cancers. Specifically these are bladder, testicular and prostate cancer.

Testicular cancer is one of the most common cancers in young men between the ages of 24 and 35 and these days, happily, the treatment success rate is very high at more than 90 per cent. Prostate cancer, however, continues to challenge scientists. This is one of the most lethal cancers for men, killing 11,000 every year. It mainly occurs in older men with 95 per cent of patients between the ages of 45 and 80.

The Trust is currently funding a research project at the laboratory of Professor Colin Cooper based at the National Cancer Research Institute at Sutton in Surrey. If you are interested in supporting the trust, then click onto www.bobchampion.org.uk and there you will find details on how to help. And if you are interested in organizing a fund-raising event, then do speak to Lucy and Kate at the charity.
They are both lovely and will be delighted to hear from you.
